The short version, in plain words
- Kept Safe helps you spot scams. Forward us something suspicious and we'll tell you what we think it is.
- Our answers come from artificial intelligence. It's a smart second opinion, not a guarantee. Use your own judgment too.
- We're not the police, not your bank, and not your lawyer. If money is gone or you're in danger, call your bank or 911.
- Be honest, don't abuse the service, and don't use it to hurt anyone.
- If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, they handle the billing and the cancelling.
- You can leave anytime and take your data with you, or delete it.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Total Safety Solutions LLC ("Kept Safe," "we," "us," or "our") covering the Kept Safe mobile app, our text message and email checking service, and keptsafe.app (together, the "Service").
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account, texting our number, or using the Service in any way, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Kept Safe
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to hold an account. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity on your account.
If you set up Kept Safe to help protect another adult, you confirm that you are doing so with that person's knowledge, that they are able to decide for themselves whether to use it, and that they will complete the confirmation step from their own phone. Kept Safe is a voluntary service, not a monitoring or surveillance tool, and it must not be set up for someone without their knowledge. If you have legal authority over another person's affairs, such as a power of attorney or conservatorship, you are responsible for acting within that authority.
3. What Kept Safe is
Kept Safe is an educational safety tool. You send us a text message, email, screenshot, or a description of a phone call. Software using artificial intelligence reviews it and returns an assessment, in plain language, with suggested next steps. When a check turns up a scam, the family members on your account can be notified and given suggested wording for a follow-up conversation.
Kept Safe also provides educational material, including weekly briefings, conversation guides, and a playbook for what to do if money has already been sent.
4. What Kept Safe is not
Our assessments are AI-generated guidance, not a guarantee. Kept Safe can be wrong. It may identify something as a scam when it is legitimate, or fail to identify a real scam. Always use your own judgment, and when something matters, verify independently by calling the person or company directly using a number you already trust. Never rely on Kept Safe alone to make a decision about your money.
Specifically, Kept Safe does not provide and is not a substitute for:
- Financial advice. We are not financial advisors, and nothing in the Service is a recommendation about your money, investments, or accounts.
- Legal advice. We are not your attorneys, and using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship.
- Medical or psychological advice. Nothing in the Service is a medical opinion, including anything relating to a person's capacity or cognition.
- Law enforcement. Kept Safe is a private company. We are not a police agency, we cannot investigate crimes, we cannot recover money, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency. Reporting something to Kept Safe is not a report to law enforcement.
- Security software. We do not block calls or texts, scan your device, monitor your accounts, or prevent anything from reaching you.
- Financial account monitoring. We do not connect to your bank and cannot see or stop a transaction.
Kept Safe was created by Clayton Cranford, a retired law enforcement sergeant. That is a description of his professional background. It does not mean the Service is provided by, sponsored by, or connected to any law enforcement agency.
5. Emergencies
Kept Safe is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call 911. If money has already been sent, call your bank or card company's fraud line immediately. Do not wait for a Kept Safe response. We cannot guarantee that any message will be received, analyzed, or answered in time, or at all.
To report fraud, contact the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov. To report suspected elder abuse or financial exploitation, contact your local Adult Protective Services.
6. Family accounts
A Kept Safe subscription covers one protected person and the family members added to that account. Everyone on the account can see the checks that person submits and the results. Both the protected person and the family members are told this during setup. Do not add someone to your account unless they know and agree.
The account holder is responsible for who they invite. You can remove a family member at any time in the app.
7. Text message terms
By texting our number and confirming when we ask, you agree to receive text messages from Kept Safe at the number you used.
- What you'll receive: a reply to each message you send us for a check, plus service messages like your verification code. We never send promotional or marketing texts.
- How often: entirely up to you. Typically 0 to 10 messages per month, because we only reply when you send us something.
- Cost: Kept Safe does not charge for text messages, but message and data rates may apply from your carrier.
- To stop: reply STOP at any time. We will send one confirmation and then no more messages. Reply START to turn it back on.
- For help: reply HELP, or contact us at support@keptsafe.app or 657-206-6070.
- Carriers: mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed.
- Supported carriers may change. Text messaging may not work on all devices or plans.
If you change or give up your phone number, tell us or remove it from your account, so messages don't go to whoever gets that number next.
8. Subscriptions and billing
Kept Safe is offered as a paid subscription. Current pricing is shown in the app before you buy.
- Where you pay: subscriptions purchased in the app are billed by Apple or Google through your app store account, under their terms. We do not receive or store your payment card information.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- To cancel: manage or cancel in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds: handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We generally cannot issue refunds for app store purchases.
- Free trials: if offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Price changes: we'll tell you before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel if you don't want to continue.
9. Acceptable use
Use Kept Safe for its intended purpose: checking messages you or your family have actually received. Do not:
- Set up Kept Safe for someone without their knowledge, or use it to monitor, surveil, or control another person.
- Submit someone else's private communications that were not sent to you or your family member.
- Use the Service to test, refine, or develop scams, or to help anyone commit fraud.
- Send abusive, threatening, or unlawful content, or spam our number.
- Automate, scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service or its output.
- Try to reverse engineer the Service or extract our underlying prompts, models, or content.
- Impersonate anyone, or use a phone number you do not control.
We may limit, suspend, or close accounts that abuse the Service. We may also rate-limit checks to keep the Service running for everyone.
10. Your content
You keep ownership of what you send us. You give us a limited license to process, store, and analyze it in order to provide the Service to you and your family, and to improve the accuracy of the Service. We handle it as described in our Privacy Policy.
You confirm you have the right to send us what you send, and that you are not submitting anyone's private communications without a legitimate reason connected to protecting your family.
11. Our content
The Kept Safe app, name, logo, briefings, conversation guides, playbooks, and all other material we provide are owned by Total Safety Solutions LLC and protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service and its content for your own family's use. Don't copy, republish, or resell it.
12. Beta versions
Parts of the Service may be offered as a beta, preview, or early access. Beta features are provided as-is, may change or disappear, and may be less reliable. Feedback you send us about the Service may be used freely, without obligation to you.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, OR ERROR-FREE; THAT ANY ASSESSMENT IT PROVIDES IS CORRECT; THAT IT WILL IDENTIFY EVERY SCAM; OR THAT ANY MESSAGE WILL BE DELIVERED OR ANSWERED. ASSESSMENTS ARE AI-GENERATED GUIDANCE AND MAY CONTAIN ERRORS. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN DECISIONS.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOTAL SAFETY SOLUTIONS LLC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF MONEY, PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE. THIS INCLUDES ANY LOSS RESULTING FROM AN INCORRECT ASSESSMENT, A MISSED SCAM, A DELAYED OR UNDELIVERED MESSAGE, OR A DECISION YOU OR A FAMILY MEMBER MADE BASED ON THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
THESE LIMITS APPLY EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES AND EVEN IF A REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR ANY LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Total Safety Solutions LLC and its owners, employees, and suppliers from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable attorneys' fees arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your submission of content you did not have the right to submit.
16. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time in the app, or by emailing support@keptsafe.app. Cancel your subscription through your app store separately. We may suspend or close an account that violates these Terms, or discontinue the Service, with notice where practical. Sections 10 through 17 survive the end of your account.
17. Disputes and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you and Kept Safe consent to their jurisdiction.

18. Apple and Google
These Terms are between you and Total Safety Solutions LLC only, not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC.
For the Kept Safe app downloaded from the Apple App Store: Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, or claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling, or discharging any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
For the Kept Safe app downloaded from Google Play: your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app or its content.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Kept Safe after that means you accept the new Terms.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing something isn't a waiver of it. These Terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us.
